Falling through the cracks

It is Thursday again and I have not written a blog post! I have not even answered to the comments on my last post or read others’ blogs.

What’s going on?

First, well, after I got back from Brazil, I sprained my ankle. A few doctor’s appointments and one x-ray later, it was concluded that I have a small “non-displaced fracture” that is “going to heal on its own.”

Then, my landlord of 20 years has decided to go off the rails with raises she is not entitled to. In order to try to stay ahead of the game, I’ve been looking at properties to lease or buy and the market in the Sacramento area is INSANE!

If you live in the area, do you know of any 2 bedroom rentals or equivalent real estate that is available? I am looking into Sacramento city, particularly pocket and midtown.

Sorry for the ranting and the skipped blog post.

The variety among the three photos is exceptionally appealing. Perhaps they’ll be accepted as a set, if the guidelines allow such.

Sorry to hear about the problem with your rental. Good luck finding an affordable place. I see that current mortgage rates in California are around 6%, not as good as they were during the pandemic, but still good by historical standards (I paid 8.7% in 1986). At least with owning you built equity.

And good luck too with the photos you submitted.

These houses here aren’t worth what they are selling for. After the pandemic, with the development of zoom work, lots of people from the bay area, who are wealthy, bought houses here because there the real estate market is inflated. They commute to work once, maybe twice a week. This has not only inflated the prices of housing here, but also has made traffic miserable. To fix traffic, the stare has been widening the highway, further aggravating our miserable commute. This state is a mess. Until I retire I cannot leave.

Sorry to read about the ankle and sending you thoughts of healing! Have you thought about looking outside of Sacramento? Our friends live in Auburn and I think it is more affordable there. Also there is Roseville (used to have friends that lived there).

I live in Sacramento because I work there. Those areas you mention would result in a very long commute.
