Exploring My Own Town Through Photography- Part 3

The project

Sometimes the most overlooked places are the ones closest to home. For my latest photography project, I decided to focus on a single corner of my own town. The idea is simple: spend time photographing one small area.

Last two posts I showed the Feline Health Center, the Taqueria, the defunct Papa Murphys’, and where the dirt ends!

Abstracts

After exhausting all buildings and corners, most of which I have not shown here yet, I decided to zooming in details. I have come up with a few abstracts, and a few repetitions which are, to some extent, abstract.

Checking in

My latest hobby, which I have written about a bit, is climbing. I have done a great deal of top rope climbing, but this coming week I am taking my second, and last, class on lead climbing. If you are not familiar with these two climbing techniques, I have a video here for you.

Nice abstractions. Your picture of shopping carts tangentially reminded me of a photograph an Austin photographer made here a long time ago.

Well, that photo is way more exciting.

The set of abstracts has several that I really like. They also led me to ponder this — what would have happened if Andy Warhol had taken up black and white photography rather than painting and prints? The four photos on the left and in the center surely did evoke his work.

I always think of Campbell’s soup when I think of Andy Warhol.
