Happy Independence Day!

Independence Day! It is a time to pause, reflect, and pay homage to the remarkable journey that has shaped this nation. On this day, we gather to celebrate the timeless values of liberty and freedom, and to honor the unwavering spirit of patriotism of (almost) every American. Let us delve deeper into the significance of this moment, as we pause to recognize the vision and sacrifices of the founding fathers.

Last year I opened Independence Day with the image below, but for this year I made a different one, and inverted the image (featured image) to create a sharp contrast between black and white. Inverted images are analogous to a negative in film. Both images are about the Demise of the Salsify Puffball.

Your featured image conveys an air of mystery, perhaps because of the predominant black.

Each seed looks like a letter Y, which could stand for Yes in affirmation of this day and the significance you’ve recognized in it.

I like the resemblance to fireworks and the processing you did to allow the seeds to shine. Happy Independence Day, Alessandra!

Your featured image conveys a sense of celebration: perhaps because of the new ‘freedom’ found by the seeds as they float away. It was a perfect image for Independence Day, but it does very well for today, as well — and every day to come.

Thank you. I tried to make it like exploding fireworks.

Amazing picture! And I don’t know much about Independence Day as a British person so it was nice to learn a little more about it. What do you do to celebrate it?

People here go to parks and watch fireworks at dusk, and every town has a parade in the morning.
