On May 22, 2022, I headed to the Marin Headlands early, with filters and tripod in hand, trying to get back to ocean photography. The ocean, however, did not cooperate, and I decided to just walk on the beach, enjoy the fresh air and look for tide pools.
While walking on the beach, I saw a gentleman was stretching, getting ready to go into the water to surf. How the light hit his sculptured, rubber-covered body, and the landscape east of him, became the photograph of the day.
The FEATURED PHOTOGRAPH was taken with a Nikon 24-70 mm at 70 mm, f/10, 1/320s, ISO 200, handheld. I have added it to my project and series “Light Matters”, which is dedicated to the light and how it can transform mundane subjects and landscapes into something special.
I have not been to the Marin Headlands for photography since.
