A 2024 BLOG SUMMARY
In 2024, I wrote 50 posts, totaling 22K words, which resulted in 13k views (up from 6,7k views last year) and short of 599 comments (down from 819 last year). I suppose half of the comments are my own replies, so my posts received short of 400 comments. I have short of 309 followers ( up from 200 followers last year, counting e-mail followers).
Below is a graph with my blog statistics for 2021-2024. The summary below the bar graph is for that range (views, visitors, likes and comments).
My most important referrer is Search Engines (5,335 views), followed by WordPress Android app (2,406 views), WordPress.com reader (687 views), and Facebook (379 views). Apparently, and consistent with last year, trying to announce blog posts on Instagram is not worth my time, since only nine views came from there.
It is interesting that the number of views and visitors has increased.
It is exciting when I look at the graph across the years to see that the blog was the more popular this year than in 2021, when I created it. My statistics in 2022 and 2023 were not as flattering.
My four most popular posts, in this order, were as follows:
•  The most delicate flower grows amongst the sharpest spines – Echinopsis chiloensis, a Chilean cactus; (699 views)
• Discovering beautiful Gualala, California, on the Mendocino Coast (308 views);
- Inspiring botanical photographer – Karl Blossfeldt (207 views).
As in 2023, people rarely clicked on links provided in my posts. This includes links with supporting information, for example to Wikipedia or other informative sites, or links to YouTube videos and to my previous posts. This again makes me wonder about the usefulness of providing links, but I am not going to stop including them when they contain information, I am not willing to repeat. They certainly do not hurt.
I realize that my statistics are not impressive. Despite that, I am still a happy blogger, and I owe all my blogging happiness to my loyal followers.
Thanks so much for following me through 2024, and for the kind support and feedback you have given me. More importantly, I am grateful that I have found several interesting blogs to follow on a variety of subjects, and for the chance to participate in discussions on various issues that include, but are not limited to, photography.
Photography achievements in 2024
In 2024 I donated photographs to be auctioned off to support two causes, Big Names Small Art, Crocker Arts Museum, and Bucks for Ducks. I entered, and was accepted into, three juried art shows, Art Farm 2024, Yolo Arts, A Fine Line, Viewpoint Arts Center, and a duo show at the Viewpoint, planned for 2025. As explained elsewhere in a previous post, I only enter juried art shows to support local organizations.
Sales wise, from my Pixels portfolio, I sold a total of 24 prints in 2024, and from my GeoGalleries portfolio, I made five sales total. One print was sold at the Art Farm show.
