As I have already told everyone in my post “four reasons to stop participating in juried arts shows“, photo competitions are generally a waste of money and time for me. However, I do occasionally participate when I want to support a local initiative such as Yolo Arts.
I am pleased to inform that my piece “Firelight over rolling hills” was accepted into the Art Harvest auction of Yolo Arts this year. Art Harvest is part of the Art Farm 2024 event.
The piece is a 12X18” print on matte metal portraying the landscape of the Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville.
Oak trees, grasses, and rolling hills define the pastures in Yolo and surrounding Central Valley counties. In the FEATURED PHOTOGRAPH (F/16, 1/250S, ISO 320), repeated below for convenience, a wildfire 100 miles away filtered the sunlight through unseen dust, casting a golden sheen across the landscape.

A black and white version of the FEATURED PHOTOGRAPH first appeared in this blog in my post “The beauty and bleakness of California’s Central Valley- part five”.
The Opening Reception for the exhibit is today, September 12, 2024, from 5:30pm-8:00pm at the Barn Gallery.
