You look like an angel- a cloud formation in the sky above

This week’s photo captures an angelic sight from one of my walks at Rush Ranch Open Space in Fairfield. It’s a place not far from my home where clouds form. If you look at California’s topographical map, you’ll see that the Central Valley ends to the west at the Coastal Range, and Fairfield, where Rush Ranch is located, is on the east side of that range, approximately halfway between Los Angeles to the south and Oregon to the north. There is a convenient gap in the mountains near Fairfield, and Highway I-80 smoothly passes through it. However, mountains tend to trap moisture, resulting in more fog, haze, and clouds near and beyond them than in the valley.

The angel appeared while I was walking on one of the trails and quickly disappeared. It made me think of all the people in my life who have appeared and then vanished. There’s no use trying to hold onto these fleeting forms. Everything changes so quickly.

Next week, I’ll be in Reno for an international congress that I am helping to organize. That will be an interesting change of scene, as our area braces for temperatures in the 100’s. I’m excited to see some of my peers I haven’t seen in over a decade (I don’t get many chances to attend conferences in my job).

Wishing a great week to all my followers beginning next Sunday!

An excellent find. Floating in the sky I see outstretched arms and a cloak or gown of white.

Ah yes, everything changes. Just this morning we were discussing Heraclitus’s famous observation: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” The older we get, of course, the more changes that have taken place, and the more dear people who have vanished.

That’s right. This conference I’m going to, is going to be odd: most of my peers I used to work with are now retired and a few have passed. I know only 5% of the attendees.

Wonderfully seen and captured. Fleeting indeed.

I saw a similar form once, but it was more bird-like and less angelic. This one is lovely.

Enjoy your conference! While some former colleagues may be absent, there’s always the possibility of meeting others who will prove simpatico. And despite Reno’s daytime heating, I just looked at the lows for the week — in the 60s! That sounds heavenly, too.

Thank you! It’s higher there, than here, and I don’t think that it gets as hot. I’m hearing a lot about high temps in Texas, hoping they are not affecting you and Steve!

Needless to say, the heat’s affecting us, but we’re still upright and mobile!

Wow, it’s amazing when such a clear form appears in the clouds. Almost as if the earth is speaking to you. Great that you managed to capture it – and so true, those figures are fleeting but the memories they leave in our lives will change us forever ❤️

The myriad shapes clouds take is fascinating. Whether looking for recognizable forms or just appreciating the way clouds can morph as they move across the sky is always enjoyable. You found a nice one.
Enjoy your conference. I hope you do get to visit with at least a few attendees who you know and meet a few new ones that you will be glad to know.
