Upon closer scrutiny of my photos from Calaveras, however, I did find a couple of photographs that succeeded in showing dogwood flowers in front of the Giant Sequoia.

Monterey county in California is a beautiful wild place for photography but the wind, topology of landscape and haze make it difficult to get a good shot.
