You did a good job conveying a sense of torsion and also movement (walking).
The only Ceanothus I know from Austin is a small shrub, so I had to look online to find that “C. arboreus and C. thyrsiflorus, both native to California, can be small multi-trunked trees up to 6–7 metres (20–23 ft) tall.”
The flow and drape in the wood is beautiful. It reminds me of harem pants; I easily can imagine someone striding down the street with the garment accentuating their movement.

I’m guessing the truck of a tree? Although it could also be some material being twisted to get rid of water.
